Berekum Chelsea Tops Premier League Table After Matchday 5 and Continues To put Berekum on the map But Needs Support

Berekum Chelsea Tops Premier League Table After Matchday 5 and Continues To put Berekum on the map But Needs Support

Berekum Chelsea Continues to lift the name of Berekum high through their impressive performance in this year's premier league season.

The Blues have gone five games unbeaten without conceding a single goal while beating the 3 biggest clubs in the country on their home grounds, Accra Hearts of Oak, Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold FC.

The Blues shared the spoils with Liberty Professionals and beat Dream FC at the Berekum Golden City Park in their matchday 2 and 4 fixtures respectively.

The Blues in 2011 shot the name of Berekum to tremendous height when they won the league, bringing massive attention to Berekum.

They sold the name of Berekum to the world with one of the most impressive performances in the history of Ghana's representation at the CAF champions league in 2012 scoring and eliminating some of the top clubs on the continent. The Blues eliminated  Raja of Casablanca, 3 times champions in a humiliating 5-0 win and thrashing bigwigs like Zamalek, Coton Sport de Garoua, Liberia's LISCR and a host of others. The CAF competition brought people from across the continent and the world to Berekum making Berekum one of the most talked-about communities in the country at the time.

The Club has opened doors for several individuals and indeed continues to provide jobs and opportunities for indigenes.

There seems not to be an interesting form of entertainment apart from visiting pubs for fun, but the games from Berekum Chelsea and Berekum Arsenals comes in handy every weekend or midweek in creating exciting moments in Berekum especially, when the clubs win, creating an avenue to meet people and have some fun.

The fans of Berekum and their enthusiasm in coming to watch games made the then GFA president, Kwasi Nyantakyi to describe the Ghana Premier league as highly watched, citing Brong Ahafo at a point when patronage of the games was going down.

Though the fans do watch the games, the pricing of tickets is meagre, thus, it's worthfully inadequate to even pay winning bonuses. Indeed, the irony is, the more the team wins, the higher the expenses, such as paying winning bonuses. Thus Berekum Chelsea has been struggling to get the right financial support to sustain the quality that will keep the soaring of the team and Berekum as a whole.

The club needs the financial support and the influence of citizens of Berekum and companies to help sustain the achievements and benefits that come with it. The club has built a good brand that can help compliment the reputation and financial benefit of those who associate with it, thus it's open for new sponsorships.

We need to support our own because when the glory comes we will stand tall and be proud to be associated with it, not forgetting the benefits it brings to our people.
