Berekum Chieftaincy Dispute Settlement To Speed Up

The panel and the parties involved in the Berekum chieftaincy dispute settlement has demonstrated their eagerness to accelerate the process.


The panel sat on the case on the 3rd and 4th of this month. The lawyer of the petitioners finished his cross examination of one of the witness to the respondents, Nana Agyeman Gyau II on the first day (Wednesday, 3rd April, 2013).

On the second day, Thursday, the counsel of the respondents presented a witness, the Krontihene of Asokore, who was assigned by the Asokore Paramount Chief to testify on his behalf. He presented his evidence and was cross examined by the counsel of the petitioners.

The witness was discharged by the panel. The counsel for the respondents, indicated that there would be about two more witness to present.

The Panel adjourned the hearing to the 25th and 26 th of April for continuation. This is the first time panel has adjourned the case to dates within the same month. The two parties even agreed to settle the accomodation bills of the panel to enable them come sit on Friday, 26 of April, 2013, since the chiefs don't travel on Fridays.
