Dr. Frank Gyamfi, the Medical Director of Holy Family Hospital, highlighted a significant shift in mortality trends, noting that while motor traffic accidents previously held the top spot as the leading cause of death over the past two years,
strokes resulting from hypertension exacerbated by aphrodisiac use have now taken precedence, particularly among individuals aged 39 to 64, constituting the middle-aged demographic. Despite the presence of a wellness clinic within the hospital, Dr. Gyamfi emphasized the necessity for a concerted effort to address this concerning trend.
His remarks were made during the 2nd Edition of the Berekum Citizens Easter Homecoming event, organized by Berekum Citizens and Associates, Accra, and currently overseen by the Berekum Citizens Easter Homecoming Secretariat. This year's theme, "Uniting to Rebuild: Our Sure Bet for Glorious Legacies," underscores the collective endeavor towards progress and resilience.
The event, held at Royale Unity Lodge on March 30, 2024, saw the participation of esteemed dignitaries, including the Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Kofi Adjei, Member of Parliament for Berekum East, Honorable Nelson Kyeremeh, and Berekum East NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Elder Ampaabeng Kyeremeh.
