In a transformative effort to uplift the youth in Berekum, the Impact Family Chapel has launched the Impact Community Empowerment Project (ICEP).
This ambitious initiative, envisioned by the church’s leader and founder, Rev. Solomon Kwasi Adomah, aims to provide vocational training to young people, helping them gain essential skills for financial independence and personal growth.
Rev. Adomah conceived this vision as a way of fighting for the common good of the Berekum community, focusing on empowering individuals to build sustainable livelihoods. The ICEP is a comprehensive program that offers training in various vocational fields, including:
- Building Construction
- Fashion Design
- Tiling
- Hairdressing
- Plumbing
- Carpentry
- Graphic Design
- Decoder Installation
- POP Installation
- Aluminum Work/Steel Design Glassworks
- Pastry Making
Project Focus
The ICEP is dedicated to preparing the youth for private-sector jobs and financial self-sufficiency. By connecting participants with mentors and leaders in their chosen fields, the project aims to provide hands-on coaching and grooming. The overarching goal is to restore hope and provide viable career paths for the youth of Berekum.
Key focuses of the project include:
1. Preparing youth for private-sector employment and financial independence.
2. Connecting participants with mentors and leaders for guidance and support.
3. Restoring hope by equipping young people with skills to support themselves and their families.
4. Targeting the youth of Berekum who are willing and eager to learn a vocation.
Benefits and Incentives
ICEP offers a robust support system to ensure the success of its participants:
1. Full Payment of Startup Fees: The project covers the full cost of enrollment fees required by mentors or masters for training the apprentices.
2. Monthly Allowances: Participants receive monthly allowances to support their upkeep while they focus on learning their chosen vocation. This financial aid is a grant, not a loan.
3. Daily Stipends: For vocations where daily stipends are not provided by the mentors, ICEP will supply these to ensure participants can sustain themselves.
4. Provision of Tools and Machinery: The project supplies the necessary tools and machinery for training, with the responsibility of replacement in case of damage or loss falling on the candidates.
5. Settlement Packages: High-performing participants, as recommended by their mentors, will receive a settlement package to help them establish their own businesses after completing their training.
Terms and Conditions
To maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the program, the following rules apply:
1. Absenteeism: Absence from work for three consecutive days without written permission will result in the forfeiture of that month's allowance.
2. Workshop Attendance: Missing monthly workshops without prior written permission will result in partial or non-payment of allowances.
3. Direct Payments: Allowances and stipends are paid directly to the participants during monthly workshops.
4. Project Withdrawal: Participants who drop out must return all provided materials and machinery, failing which legal action may be taken.
5. No Obligations: Beneficiaries are not required to repay or render any services to the church or the project; all provisions are intended solely to empower them.
ICEP is inclusive and open to all residents of Berekum, including Muslims and non-church members, ensuring a broad impact across the community.
Launch Event
The project was officially launched over the weekend on Saturday, May 25, 2024. The launch event was graced by the Member of Parliament for Berekum East, Honorable Nelson Kyeremeh, and Mr. Ofosu Diawuo, CEO of Diamond Valley Construction. Both dignitaries inspired the participants to seize this valuable opportunity and make the most of the training provided.
The first batch of 50 participants has already begun their training, and a second batch of 50 is set to commence later in the year. This initiative is expected to make a significant difference in the lives of many young people in Berekum, fostering a new generation of skilled professionals.
