Berekum Health Insurance Launches A Movie “Asem Beba Dabi”

As  part of its usual activities to promote and encourage most people to join and register with the health insurance policy in the country, the Berekum mutual health insurance scheme on 17th of july, 2011 launched a movie titled “ asem beba dabi”

The  occasion took place at the Omanhene’s park in Berekum and was graced by many dignataries including the Omanhene of Berekum,  Daasebre Nana Dr. Amankona Diawuo II, Brong –Ahafo Regional minister –Hon. Kwadwo Nyamekye, Regional Scheme manager-Mr. Adjei Korang Foster,Berekum MCE Hon. Lord Oppong Stephen , traditional sub-chiefs in the municipality and many others across the region.

OMANHENES SPEECH

The chairman of the program; Daasebre Nana Dr. Amankona Diawuo II in his speech said, “there is the need to join the scheme since as his experience as a medical doctor, there have been many who have been hospitalized and had to suffer financial constrains in paying their medical bills as a result of their neglect to register with the scheme”

BEREKUM MANAGERS SPEECH

The Berekum Scheme manager, Mr. Ben Bukari in his speech said, the benefit of the scheme is cyclical and therefore, one should always have the will join the scheme to enjoy the numerous benefit. He said ; people listen to what they hear and interpret . he said the purpose of the movie is to visually communicate the benefit of scheme to both the insured and non-insured. He said, it is also to inform, remind, educate people in a pictorial form to inculcate more than what the listen. He further said, the launching of the movie is to also serve as medium to raise fund to help complete the office of the scheme .He said ;”asem beba dabi” will support the audio campaign of the scheme , he said the movie describes to people for them to recognize and prevent the saying “had I know”. He also expressed his gratitude to all management of the scheme, staff, the actors and actress of the movie.

REGIONAL MINISTER’S SPEECH

Hon. Kwadwo Nyamekye said; government pays 90%-93% of the premium to support the scheme. He said health matters are at the heart of government since the strength of the people determines   the output of a nation. He said from January, there were rumors about the collapse of scheme because of swallowing debt  own to service providers. He said as of Dec. 2010, government had paid a debt relief of over Ghc80million to service providers to enhance smooth running of the scheme. He said, as of January 1.4 million had registered and by Feb. 2011, over 600,000 people had also joined which represents  30% increase. He said, there is no limitation in joining the scheme and is not base on any political grounds
