The Queen-mother of Berekum in the Bono Region of Ghana, Nana Akosua Ameyaahene lII initiated the renovation of the Former Berekum Urban Council block to be turned into Driver, Vehicle and Licensing Authority ( DVLA) offices to help ease the stress of acquisition of driving Licenses for the people of Berekum and it's environs.
The renovation works started in August 2019 and was anticipated to be completed in six months, February 2020. In a follow up on the progress of work, 3 months behind schedule, the Queen-mother pointed out that the project has stalled largely due to lack of funds.
On inspection at the site to evaluate the progress thus far, Berekumcity.com identify some key deficits which were confirmed by the queen mother. The following are some of the key things needed to help complete the project;
Three (3) water closet toilets
Three (3) washing basins
Eight (8) single doors,
Six (6) double doors,
Wall tiles,
four (4) burglar-proof for window,
Louvre blades,
Cement and tile cement,
Electrical cables,
Extension of shed and
Pavement for the parking grounds.
Nana Akosua Ameyaahene lII said it is imperative to get the support to complete the project since a lot has been invested in it already and indeed the project will help ease the stress motorist go through in traveling to renewing and acquiring licenses.
She expressed appreciation for the support she has gotten so far from the driver unions and the general citizens of Berekum and further appealed for support from Berekumman citizens Association, philanthropist, NGOs, cooperate institutions and citizens and well-wishers of Berekum to come to her aid to make the office available within the shortest possible time.
