Who wins the NDC Primaries for Berekum East?

agidasThe sitting MCE of Berekum Hon Opoku Yadom Boakye, is to be contested fiercely by Elder Simon Ampaabeng Kyereme, who believes, he is the best candidate for the NDC to take the seat from incumbent Hon Dr. Kwabena Twum Nuama of the NPP.

The MCE popular known as Agidas is riding on the numerous developmental projects he’s undertaken in Berekum since he came to office as MCE some two years ago. These works of his, such as the installation of new street lights in Berekum, the creation of a ring road, waters projects, tarring of roads, the improvement of the youth in agricultural program, provision of dustbins to fight sanitation and the like, have resulted in many calling him ‘Adwumawura’. He strongly believes he can do more to develop Berekum when he becomes the MP since he will have the opportunity to lobby more, to the benefit of Berekum.

 

He started his education in Berekum, having his basic education at Yiadom Boakye Experimental primary, then to Berekum Demonstration JHS. He then went to Berekum Senior High (BESS), he later moved to Dormaa Senior High School, then to Tema SHS to complete his sixth form, he did his national service in Berekum Methodist C Basic School. He later proceeded to University of Cape Coast (UCC) to undertake BSc Biology (botany). He got his MSc at UCC.

He says he has brought unity in the party, especially in the leadership of the constituency and intends to do more to develop the party.

Elder Simon Ampaabeng Kyeremeh is challenging the MCE since he believes that he has the qualities to win the seat against the NPP’s incumbent. He hails from Berekum. He started his basic education in Senase and then to St. Monica’s Basic school in Berekum. He then proceeded to BESS. From BESS he went to the University of Development Studies (UDS). He went to KNUST, to attain an MSc in Development Planning and Management. He went back to UDS for his MPhil in Development Management. He is currently a PhD candidate in Development Policy and Administration at the Walden University, USA.

He promises to develop people, based on his expertise in development planning and management to contribute to the development of Berekum. He also promises to develop agriculture in Berekum through mechanization and commercialization, and then help create a market for farmers to be able to access. He also intends to raise education to a higher level in Berekum. He has the vision to sponsor indigene to become specialized doctors to work in the municipality to promote the health of the people of Berekum.

For his party, he specifically wants to develop members, especially the grass root level. He also would want to honor members of the party who have served in various capacities towards its development.
