Bishop Obinim Runs Amok. Leads Demolition Squad To HOT FM.

The head of the International God's Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim created an awful scene at the offices of Hot FM, an Accra-based radio station, Monday night, when he led two other pastors to attach the host and panel members on a discussion programme.

In the melee, the trio, who were said to be wielding a crowbar, reportedly smashed louvers in the studio.

The three were subsequently arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court Tuesday, charged with conspiracy, causing unlawful harm and causing unlawful damage.

They were however granted bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 each with one surety to re-appear on August 30, 2011.

In the Monday’s incident, Obinim and his associates were said to have been angered by an issue being discussed by the panelists that centred on Bishop Obinim’s relationship with the wife of his junior pastor.

The host of the programme, Ntim Ketekyere and the three panelists, Shadrach Adu, George Kumi and Reverend Amoako Atta, reportedly sustained injuries and were treated and discharged at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

A police patrol team which was dispatched to the scene following the confusion arrested Obinim and the two others and handed them over to the Accra Regional Police Command for further investigations.

According to the Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohonu, at about 10p.m., the police had information that some people had attacked the offices of Hot FM at Adabraka and destroyed property belonging to the station.

He said the police patrol team quickly proceeded to the station and arrested Bishop Obinim together with Pastor Kofi Akwetey and Pastor Kingsley Baah Ameyaw.

He said upon interrogation, Bishop Obinim stated that at about 9p.m., while relaxing at home at Ashaley-Botwe, near Accra, he overheard panellists on a Hot FM programme discussing him and casting aspersions at his character.

ACOP Yohonu said Bishop Obinim said he asked two of his pastors to accompany him to Adabraka to tell his side of the story but on reaching the studious he confronted the host and the panelists and a serious fight ensued, which resulted in the glass windows being shattered.

Bishop Obinim had been accused by Pastor William Fobih of having sexual relationship with his wife, Gifty Pokua.

Although the wife of Bishop Obinim, Florence Obinim, a popular gospel artist, sought to justify the allegation by insisting that it was the woman who lured her husband into bed, the Bishop himself had admitted his guilt.

Speaking on Happy FM’s “Ensem Pii” programme, he admitted having an affair with the woman about five years ago and not this year as was being claimed by the pastor.
