Berekum Chelsea came bearing gifts as they defeated Asante Kotoko 2-0 on Sunday at the Golden City Park to go top of the standings.
And it was former Kotoko players Eric Bekoe and Jordan Opoku, who put the Porcupine Warriors to the sword, scoring both goals to end their 11-game unbeaten run in the Glo Premier League.
Chelsea got both goals before the interval with Bekoe scoring the first after 22 minutes before Opoku got the second goal a minute before halftime.
The defeat, Kotoko's first of the season leave them sitting at the fifth position and dents their title defence at least for now.
Kotoko are five points behind Chelsea on the standings with three matches to end the first round.
