The draw for finals of the 2012 African Nations Cup was made in Malabo on Saturday night and Ghana will face Botswana, Mali and Guinea in Group D.
Ghana will be based in Franceville, in Gabon as the competition kicks off on January 21 and runs to February 12, 2012.
The two top guests, the two presidents of the host countries - President Ali Bongo of Gabon and President Teodoro Obiang Nguema of Equatorial Guinea were in attendance alongside CAF President Issa Hayatou.Four groups of four teams each will compete for the African title as Gabon and Equatorial Guinea co-host the last Nations Cup tournament to be played in an even year.
The Black Stars, four-time champions are seeking a fifth title. Previous finalists - Tunisia (twice), Zambia (twice), Ivory Coast (once), Mali (once), Morocco (once) and Senegal (once) are also chasing the African Cup.
Niger and Botswana are making their Nations Cup debut.
Former stars from the continent and beyond were present. Sami Trabelsi of Tunisia and Michel Dussuyer of Guinea together with Marcel Desailly and Basil Boli all sat through the draw.
