This year’s Ghana Most Beautiful (GMB) pageant (A TV3 produced pageant which brings young girls from different regions in Ghana to contest for a crown and subsequently undertake a social project) consists of 16 contestants from each of the regions of Ghana.
The Bono region is being represented by a young beautiful and intelligent lady known on the show as Obaapa.
Obaapa is known privately as Debora Akuffo, a 24-year-old young self-motivated person and an entrepreneur who enjoys being part of a successful productive team, able to develop new ideas and providing creative solutions to problems.
She comes from Berekum- Jamdede in the Bono Region from the family of Nana Kwadwo Effah, a past chief of Jamdede. She used to live in the palace at Jamdede. Her late dad comes from Mamfi in the Eastern Region.
She started her basic education at Voice of Deliverance School in Berekum but left to the Western Region after the passing of her dad, where she completed her Junior High Education at Saint Paul’s International School at Suaman Dadieso in the Western North region.
She proceeded to Mfantsiman Girls Senior High school in the Central Region and subsequently to the University of Education Winneba where she obtained her first degree.
One of her memorable experiences was when she organized a women empowerment event in her University as the SRC Women’s Commissioner (WoCom), with limited funds, but managed to pull a very successful event which brought top politicians, Chiefs, Lecturers and patrons together. The event indeed stands to be one of the highest attended and successful programs that have ever happened in the school.
She did her National Service at Sankore SHS in the Ahafo Region where she doubled as the National Service Persons’ Association (NASPA) Vice President at the Asunafo district. She subsequently contested for NASPA Brong Ahafo Regional WoCom and won.
Last year in August, she organized a skills training program as the NASPA Brong-Ahafo Regional WoCom for both NASPA members and the people of Berekum at Berekum Municipal Assembly. The event was chaired by Hon. Kofi Adjei, Municipal Chief Executive of Berekum.
She is particular about championing the causes of women, especially the vulnerable and the unemployed. She believes GMB will be a great platform to support such causes.
She aspires to become a lecturer, manage her businesses, promote the gender equality and equity agenda.
She is currently working with the Ministry of Education in Accra.
Her hobbies are acting, presenting and soap making.
