Berekumman Citizens Association(BCA) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) aimed at bringing development to Berekum in the Bono region. The Association has embarked on several developmental projects in Berekum and it's environs.
The association on the15th of January 2020, commissioned a borehole water project at Jininjini Senior High School of the Berekum West District. The borehole was dug by the Parents Teacher Association (PTA) of the school, a few years ago, but was not been able to complete its mechanization from lack of funds due to the halting of the payment of PTA dues resulting from the free SHS directive on the ceasing of money collections from students.
The school has been facing serious challenges from non-access to portable water, thus the association decided to mechanized the borehole by providing a pump, two Polytanks and a platform to make the water easily accessible the students and staff.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony of the project to the school authorities, the founder of BCA, Evangelist Paul Osei Agyemang emphasized the need for access to portable water and thanked the PTA for starting the project in the school.
The Assistant Head Master of Jininjini SHS, Mr Moses Addai thanked the association for the support and outlined the lack of staff Bungalows, low power voltages, congestion in dormitories, the need of another school bus as some of their key challenges and thus called for further support.
Mr Paul Osei Agyemang urged the school authorities and the students to take great care of the mechanized borehole as it is the only source of potable water to them. He assured that the association will continue to assist the school in their needs.
He further challenged the students to take their academic work very seriously to help them achieve their goals in life because they are the future leaders.
The District Chief Executive for Berekum West, Hon Isaac Osei thanked the Association for the kind gesture. The DCE also appealed to the association to continue to support Jininjini SHS as government alone cannot do it but assured Government commitment in providing physical infrastructure to the school and the quality of education in the country.
In attendance of the commissioning were some of the key executives of the association including Prof Obeng Ofori, the Global Financial Secretary, Thomas Nimako, Local Organizer, Master Ali, Operations Manager.
