Work Finally Resumes on Delayed Berekum-Seikwa Road Construction

SeikwaBerekumroadThe Berekum-Seikwa Abandoned Road construction was part of the Cocoa Roads which was commenced in 2010 and was scheduled to be completed in 2016 but was abandoned due to lack of funds.

Construction works finally resumed on Friday 16th of January 2020 after almost 4 years of lagging behind schedule. The contractors, J.A. Adom Construction Limited have assured that works are going to be completed this time around before they leave the site.

The road started from Seikwa and was designed to end in Berekum just before the Zongo one way. However, in an interview with Hon Kwabena Twum Nuama on Thursday, 23 of January 2020 on Akomapa FM, the MP revealed that he has had a discussion with the contractors and have agreed to extend their works to cover the Zongo one way.

The development comes after several backlashes of the MP and the MCE for failing to bring road infrastructure to Berekum. The political leaders had insisted that they have been working assiduously to see Berekum roads rehabilitated and this is indeed one of the outcomes of their work.

Motorists who ply the road faces several challenges as well as people living along the road, as heavy dust engulf them. They have expressed their delight in the new developments happening on the road but pleaded to the authorities to do a good job for a long-lasting road.

Speaking to the Municipal Chief Executive for Berekum East, Hon Kofi Adjei, he told Berekumcity.Com that, the roads in Berekum has been his major headache and will do everything in his capacity to see Berekum East Roads tarred during his tenure as MCE. He further assured that the contractor will not leave the site until he’s finished the work which is scheduled to complete soon.

He finally assured Berekum Citizens and settlers to welcome a year of Roads Construction in 2020 to uplift Berekum township to restore its lost glory.
