In May this year, the Queen mother of Berekum appealed to the people of Berekum to help her complete the DVLA office which started in August 2019 but had stalled due to lack of funds.
In response to the plea from the Queen-mother, Berekumman citizens association started a fundraising exercise to support her cause.
On Friday 7th of August 2020, a delegation of the executives of the association paid a courtesy call on Nana Akosua Ameyaahene II to make a cash donation of GHC 19,000 to help complete the project.
Berekumhemaa was very grateful for the donation as she elaborated on some of the hurdles that have led to the delay in the completion of the project; largely due to financial constraints.
She promised the monies will be put to use to see the completion of the project in the shortest possible time.
The Queen mother initiated the construction of the DVLA office in 2019 to help ease the stress of travelling out of Berekum to acquire driver and vehicle licenses and other services from the Authority.
This, she believes will go a long way to accelerate the acquisition of these services for the people of Berekum and its environs.
