Berekum asphalt road construction began today 26th August 2020 from On the old Sunyani road or Scotch Junction to the old roundabout intersection. The work is scheduled to take less than two months to complete according to the CEO of JOSHOB construction Ltd, Mr Wireko Brown and has promised to produce high quality works.
The MP for Berekum East Constituency Hon Dr Kwabena Twum Nuamah presented the contractor to the Berekum Traditional council a couple of weeks ago.
The Queen-mother for Berekum Nana Kosua Ameyaahene III visited the site when the work began today. She expressed her appreciation to the President, Nana Addo Dankwaa Akuffo-Addo, Dr Kwabena Twum Nuamah MP, and Berekum Citizens Association for their efforts in visiting the president at Flagstaff house to hold talks on Berekum’s development.
She advised citizens to cope with the contractor in order for him to do diligent work for the community and also stated that the traditional council will be following the progress of work and provide all necessary support to the contractor to achieve the best result possible.
Speaking to regional urban road official engineer, Ms Victoria Afriyie Darkwaa told the media that, the thickness of the bitumen will be 70 mm overlay across all roads and it can last over ten (10) years. She assured the citizenry that her office will be supervising the project until its completion to maintain the quality required. Some citizens expressed their gratitude for the maintenance of the roads at this particular time since the road has been full of potholes.
