Foundation Berekum, an organisation from the Netherlands, on Friday, 7th December 2018 donated a new C-Arm x-ray machine to the Holy Family Hospital, Berekum.
A C-Arm machine is an imaging scanner intensifier with radiographic capabilities that is used primarily for fluoroscopic intraoperative imaging during surgical, orthopedic and emergency care procedures. The device provides high-resolution X-ray images in real time, thus allowing the doctor to monitor progress and immediately make any corrections.
Doing the presentation to the hospital, Dr Van Leeuwen (a former medical director of the hospital) and Dr Dehaan expressed their excitement for the partnership between Foundation Berekum and the hospital.
The doctors expressed gratitude to Dr Jan van Haastrecht and Dr Nico Groot of Titia Foundation in the Netherlands who provided the C-Arm machine together with some other orthopaedic instruments.
This is in line with setting up the Berekum Holy Family Hospital as a hub for modern care in trauma and orthopaedics.
The Health Services Administrator of Holy Family Hospital, Berekum, Rev. Sister Reena, received the C-Arm machine on behalf of the hospital management team and expressed her profound gratitude to the donors for their support towards the hospital's vision of becoming the preferred health facility in the Brong Ahafo Region.
Foundation Berekum has doctors from Isala Hospital in Zwolle and other hospitals in The Netherlands who visit the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum biannually to assist with specialist care and training, as well as providing medical supplies.
The Foundation is currently assisting the hospital put up a modern maternity block to provide excellent care in obstetrics and genealogy.
Holy Family Hospital, Berekum is 70 years and will climax the celebration with a durbar on 18th December, 2018.
