Hon. Kwaku Agyenim Boateng and Dr. Kwabena Twum Nuama both won comfortably in the NPP primaries which was held today in the Berekum West and East respectively.
Dr. Nuama won over 300 votes as against his opponent Lawyer Frimpong who pulled over 100 votes.
There was a lot of controversy surrounding this particular constituency when the Lawyer alleged he had been resisted from picking nomination forms. Some key figures threw their weight behind the lawyer. Indeed a number of people were looking forward to seeing the Lawyer pull a surprise which turn out null.
The delegates still believed Dr. Nuama was the best candidate to lead the party to victory and thus voted overwhelmingly in support of his candidature. The party now seeks for unity to win power in 2016.
Hon Agyenim Boateng won with about 130 votes with his contenders; Hon Clement Amofa with 88 votes, Cpt. Rtd. Effah Dartey with 24 ad Richard Asante Yeboah with 6 votes.
This put Hon Agyenim in a comfortable win and thus will be leading the NPP in Berekum West. This will be his third term in parliament if he wins in 2016.
This come as a great relief for both MPs when a number of great incumbents such as Dr Richard Anane, Dr. Akoto-Afriyie, Hon Isaac Osei and other big names are losing in their constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
