The Berekum East parliamentary seat is currently occupied by Dr. Kwabena Twum Nuama of the NPP. He’s is seeking re-election to lead the party again in next year’s general elections. If he succeeds he would be entering his second term in parliament.
But he’s keenly contested by Lawyer Amoako Frimpong, a private legal practitioner in the upcoming primaries of the NPP scheduled to take place on Saturday, 13th of June 2015.
Dr. Kwabena Twum Nuama a medical doctor became the Member of parliament for Berekum East in 2012 after the separation of the Berekum constituency into two— East and West. After a successful primaries, he won the seat beating his main contender George Atta-Boateng of the NDC, to become the first MP for Berekum East.
He is now being challenged in his party by Laywer Amoako Frimpong.
The question is who will lead the NPP in Berekum East after a controversial process preceding the primaries which is scheduled for June 13 this year.
The NDC is keenly watching as there have been hints that the incumbent MCE Hon. Boakye Yiadom is interested in competing next year’s parliamentary elections for Berekum East.
