A Kindergarten Teacher Donates 10 Dual Desks to Her Pupils

A kindergarten teacher in Japekrom in the Jaman South District in the Bono Region has been a teacher at the Dwenem Methodist Basic School in the same district, for two years now. She has always been appalled by the poor conditions her little pupils go through. The kids sit or sometimes lie on the floor to learn.

Madam Elizabeth Ameyaa (4th from Left in picture), the teacher together with her husband who are both members of the Church of Pentecost at Japekrom in the Jaman South Municipality decided to relieve the little ones from their anguish by donating 10 dual desks to the tune of 1000 cedis to her class. The donation was made last Friday 13th September 2019.

The donation was received by the P.T.A Chairman, the Local Manager of the Methodist Schools, the Head Teacher and the entire staff of the school.

The headteacher of the school, Mr Dennis Kyeremeh on behalf of the School and GES thanked Madam Ameyaa and her husband for their timely support since the situation of furniture in the school has been a major problem and confessed that all efforts to get various stakeholders in resolving the situation proved futile. “We are seriously lacking furniture and Madam Ameyaa a staff of the school has personally complained several times that the kids sit to write on the floor”, the headteacher lamented.

The little ones were very happy realizing that they will be sitting on desks for the first time.

The school will need about 50 more desks to resolve the problem, thus philanthropist are being invited to support them.
