Berekum Chelsea Appoints A Highly Respected Sports Journalist In Africa, Juliet Bawuah to Lead its Brand Strategy

Berekum Chelsea has appointed a prolific and influential sports journalist in Africa, Juliet Bawua to lead in the brand strategy of the club. In an official post by the CEO, Obed Nana Kwame Nketiah, he said;

“I am pleased to inform you that Berekum Chelsea has appointed Ms Juliet Bawuah as Brand Strategy and Relations Manager.

Juliet Bawuah is an astute sports journalist with international recognition. She will be spearheading the corporate and brand affairs of the club.

This appointment we term it as a strategic one which will help us in our 'new dawn' agenda. More names are coming.

I entreat all stakeholders and the general public to her the maximum support and cooperation”.

The club is restructuring under the move, “New Dawn”, aimed at positioning it as a reputable world-class club. Among other things, the club is reconstituting its board and making key appointments including Ms Bawuah to bring her international expertise to improve and promote the brand of the Berekum Chelsea.

Ms Bawua is a trained Sports Journalist who has worked for Euronews’ sister channel Africanews when she was based in Congo.

She worked for CITI FM, Metro TV and ETV all in Ghana. She is a contributor for the Turkish global broadcast giant TRT World. In the past, she contributed to the BBC, as well as the website of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

She has covered major sporting events including the 2010 World Cup in South Africa as well as the African Cup of Nations. She has interviewed some of the biggest names in sports including current Liberian President, George Weah, and FIFA President, Gianni Infantino.

She hosted TV3’s Ghana Premier League-focused show GPL Xpress – a thirty minutes show which highlights the biggest conversation around the Ghana Premier League, where she tells stories that emotionally connect with football fans.

Juliet graduated from the Ghana Institute of Journalism with a bachelor of arts degree in Journalism and Public Relations. She also holds a diploma in Communication Studies from the African University College of Communications. She is an alumna of Radio Netherlands Training Centre in the Netherlands. In 2018, she took a master's degree in International Public Relations and Global Communications at Cardiff University.

In 2015, she was nominated for the Sports Media Pearl Awards. While in 2017, she was named as part of the panel of voting experts for the African Football of the Year Awards by the Confederation of African Football.

She is a voting panel for the BBC African Footballer of the Year, one of the most respected schemes in the football world. She was also among 49 other African journalists that made up the voting panel of the maiden edition of the ‘Africa Football Shop Player of the Year Award

Bawuah was an ambassador for the UNAIDS’ ‘Protect the Goal’ campaign. She was one of the known Ghanaians to pledge commitment to the campaign which was an initiative between UNAIDS and FIFA, to advocate for the prevention of HIV infection through sports.

She is the founder of Africa Women's Sports Summit, which was first hosted on 15 May 2019 in Accra. The Africa Women's Sports Summit is a gathering of Africa's leading female sports names and aspiring ones.

The fans of the Berekum Chelsea have applauded her appointment and expect a ‘new dawn’ for the club.
