Berekum will be benefiting from a tomato paste and puree factory under the auspice of the one district one factory initiative.
Weddi Africa Limited is putting up the factory at Domfete in the Berekum West area which is scheduled to be completed and start operation in March 2020.
At an inspection tour of the site of the project on Friday, 4th of October, 2019, with Nananom and opinion leaders of the Berekum Traditional area organized by the CEO of Weddi Africa Limited, Mr Yaw Owusu Boahen, he demonstrated his commitment to creating jobs for the people of Berekum. The project had made significant progress.
Mr Boahen made a promise to Nananom that he is ready to put up two more factories and thus appealing to Nananom to provide land for the projects.
Osabarima Kusi Yeboah II who represented Berekuman Hene Daasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II thanked Mr Yaw Owusu Boahen for such a great initiative and praised him for putting Berekum on the map.”Nananom will support all your activities whether rain or shine”, he emphasized. Osabarima assured that Nananom will meet and find suitable land for the two factories in the shortest possible time. He further blessed Mr Yaw Owusu Boahen for long life and prosperity.
Some of the dignitaries present were DCE for Berekum West, Hon Isaac Osei, The Director of the Tomatoes Factory, Mr Joseph Mensah Diawuo, the Presiding Member for Berekum West, Hon Yaw Ansu, the District 2018 Best farmer, Mr Augustine Oppong, the aide of DCE, Hon Alex Obeng and other members of the Berekum West District Assembly.
