Berekumcity.com investigations reveal that there is a four-storey building around the Municipal Police Headquarters which was to provide accommodation for the police but has been abandoned for over 12 years now.
Speaking to Berekum East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon Kofi Adjei of the Bono region, he confirmed that, the flat has eight apartments and will be tackled after Berekum roads have been done by close of next year.
Hon Kofi Adjei pointed out that, he and former Brong Ahafo Regional Minister Hon Lawyer Kwaku Asomah Kyeremeh (now Minister of Lands and Natural Resources) inspected the building about 2 years ago and thus measures have been put in place to complete the flat to curb the accommodation problem of police personnel in Berekum.
He confirmed that the project started under former president John Agyekum Kuffour era to resolve the accommodation issues of the police.
Hon Kofi Adjei admitted it is unfortunate that the building has not been completed and emphasized that it will be tackled in the shortest possible time and assured the police of his commitment of support for them and his determination to help resolve their accommodation problem.
