The President of Berekum Traditional Council, Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II today 7th May 2020 presented personal protective equipment and preventive items to the Health Directorates in Berekum.
The items presented include twelve (12) infrared thermometers and accessories, twenty (20) Veronica buckets with their stands, one thousand (1000) nose masks, ten packets (10) of tissues and six hundred (600) hand sanitizers worth twenty-three thousand, one hundred and forty Ghana cedis (GHC 23,140).
Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II thanked the many donors who have contributed to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Berekum, such as Berekum citizens Association, aspiring MPs and other philanthropists for their support.
He also entreated the general public to adhere to the directives of the Ghana Health Service and Ministry of Health of washing of hands and observing social and physical distancing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Daasebre, however, admonished the people of Berekum to be vigilant because the disease is real and Berekum citizens should not be worried about using Berekum Holy family Hospital as a treatment center.
The Berekum Municipal Health Director, Dr. Dutte Badimah received the items and thanked Daasebre for the tremendous support and stated that this is the first traditional council to do such a wonderful gesture in the Bono region.
Dr. Dutte Badimah confirmed to the Berekum Traditional Council that, Bono region has recorded its first case at Sampa in the Jaman North district yesterday. The Ghana immigration services arrested ten (10) illegal migrants from Ivory Coast traveling to Togo and upon testing, one person tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The health services have started doing contact tracing.
