Berekum West District Assembly Starts Boreholes To Areas Without Access To Portable Water for COVID-19 fight

boreholecovid19On the 9th of April 2020, the District Assemblies Common Fund Administrator, Ms. Irene Naa Torshie Addo transferred DPAT II (2017) fund to district assembly's common fund to the tune of one hundred and sixty-six thousand, two hundred and eighty Ghana cedis, sixty-two pesewas (166,280.62) for COVID-19 programs. This is to provide potable water to areas which are deprived of water and provide other amenities in the fight against COVID-19

The District Chief Executive of the Berekum West District, Hon Isaac Osei inspected the start of drilling of the boreholes in some selected market areas and public places in the district. The areas to benefit from the initiative are the Jinijini market, the Fetenta market, the Benkasa market, and the Koraso market which will get mechanized boreholes. The initiative has also been extended to areas like Fetenta station, Jinijini station, Jinijini health center, Koraso station, Ayimom, and Domfete market which are all scheduled to be completed in the next two weeks.

According to Hon Isaac Osei, the contractor, Superdab Pum, is poised to deliver a diligent job at all the aforementioned locations to provide reliable water supply to wash hands and other uses as directed by the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health.

Aside from these projects, the assembly is also distributing four thousand (4000) nose masks and hand sanitizers to all communities in the district. Hon Isaac Osei assured that the funds will be used appropriately to help achieve the intended purpose.
