People from Berekum, Dormaa, Drobo, Seikwa and their environs have to travel long distances to Sunyani to obtain various services from the Driver Vehicle license Authority (DVLA). The situation creates several inconveniences for motorists.
On Tuesday the 20th of August, 2019, the Queen mother of Berekum traditional council Nana Kosua Ameyaahene III met all the transport unions and cooperations in Berekum to join hands to renovate the old Berekum municipal assembly block (opposite the Ghana National Fire Service) to be used as DVLA new office in Berekum.
Speaking at a mini durbar at Berekum main lorry station, Nana said, through her effort and the Berekum municipal assembly’s, she went to the DVLA’s Head office to seek an office in Berekum. DVLA accepted her request and outline the necessary conditions to be fulfilled to qualify.
In a pilot exercise conducted by DVLA recently, it was concluded that Berekum qualifies to have an independent office and thus recommended that authorities in Berekum help provide the place to create the office.
After various consultations and deliberations, a decision was reached to use the old assembly block for the office.
Nana Hemaa is thus, pleading to citizens and lovers of Berekum to help renovate the place within six months to enable DVLA start business to ease the stress citizens and people from relatively nearby towns go through by travelling to Sunyani to obtain simple services such as renewal of licenses.
The transport union leaders and drivers thanked Obaahemaa Nana Kosua Ameyaahene III for her developmental contribution in bringing the DVLA to Berekum. They assured the queen mother that they will support her in any way possible to make the vision a reality.
