Bishop Owusu Girls' School Pupil Raises Berekum's Name High By Excelling In The BECE; She Got Honored By The President Of Ghana

bishop owusu girl for paNana Yaa Amankwaa Tabury, currently a student of St. Louis Senior High School, Kumasi and an immediate past pupil of Bishop Owusu Girls School, a private basic school under the auspices of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, located at Mpatapo a suburb of Berekum, has excelled exceedingly in the 2017 Basic Education Certification Examination (BECE), conducted by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).

She had seven ones in the exams and the highest raw score in the Brong Ahafo Region. In an interview with her mother Madam Esther Agyekum, she told the media, the teachers at Bishop Owusu Girls school had prepared her very well. The parents how ever provided assistance through private tuition at home to aid in their daughter's learning process. She encouraged parents to pay keen attention towards the welfare of their wards, and thus take their wards' education seriously as parents can benefit from them in future. “ Parents have to be curios about children's movement so that ,they don't join deviant groups, she iterated.

According to the mother, it amazes her that while Nana Yaa was receiving a national award, her junior sister, Afia Sarfo Kumi was also receiving Municipal Debate award for her school, Bishop Owusu Girls.

 

The headmistress of the school, Rev. Sister Philipa Okwor said ,the school is doing very well in academics because all the pupils are given critical attention right from crèche to the Junior High school level. "Teach a child how to fish and when she grows ,she can fish for herself",she emphasized.

She disclosed that ,a lots of students from the school are excelling in their various Senior High Schools (SHS) and indeed some even win awards for their schools; all because of the good moral training they've received.

The headmistress hinted that, they will continue to produce best students, thus plans are underway to provide the school with a boarding facility, start their own SHS, through to the level of a University.

Rev Sister Philipa Okwor revealed that, the school is in need of a bus and thus appealing to NGOs and philanthropist to assist the school to aid students movement

She finally appealed to all parents to invest in their awards to help build a better future for them.
