The Brong Ahafo Regoinal Director of National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Mr Stephen Mensah has advised health agents and providers of the NHIS within the Berekum Municipality to help do all they can to sustain the NHIS in the country. The Regional Director made this call during the 2017 performance review of the Berekum Municipal NHIS on Friday, 16th of March, 2018, to assess their work for the year under review.
Mr Stephen Mensah on behalf of the NHIA acknowledged the hard work of the CEO of ENAPARK Pharmacy (the first accredited pharmcy shop in Berekum), Mr Amankona Dei Samuel aka Paa K, who for some years ago helped the Berekum NHIS with drugs when the whole Berekum Municipality was in short of drugs to supply to various hospitals within its catchment area.
He was presented with a citation to motivate him to keep doing more for the people of Berekum.
Paa K was happy to received the citation and urged others to assist in times of difficulties and their efforts will not be in vain. He promised to continue his kindness to Berekum NHIS any time the need arises.
The review proofed that, Malaria was the top-most disease captured among the common diseases with the highest cost to the NHIS. Mr Mensah pointed out that, this was largely due to the unclean and filthy environment producing mosquitoes around us.
The NHIS scheme manager of Berekum Municipal, Mr. Ben Bukari lamented that ,the scheme's office block has been abandoned by the Berekum Municipal Assembly and thus urged them to come and support the Berekum Municipal NHIS office to put it in shape.
