The president of Berekum traditional council Daasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo ll and his sub-chiefs took a tour on Friday 11th September 2020 to inspect the progress of work on the overlying of Berekum inner-city roads which commenced about two weeks ago.
Daasebre pointed out that he’s received a number of complaints from the contractor on how some citizens are making their work difficult. Among the issues include people removing blockades to ply unconsolidated bitumen which can result in destruction. Daasebre thus admonished the citizens to cooperate with the contractor and urged the police to help prevent people from accessing uncompleted areas of the work.
The traditional council presented cash and a number of items including water to the site foreman, Mr Adu Agyapong to motivate the personnel working on the roads.
The MP for Berekum East Constituency, Hon Dr Kwabena Twum Nuamah and the parliamentary candidate for Berekum East, Mr Nelson Kyeremeh also inspected the progress of work. Speaking to the media, Dr Kwabena Twum Nuamah said he is happy that Berekum inner-city roads are seeing a face-lift. He assured that the second phase of the construction will commence soon.
He made a donation to the contractors, JOSHOB construction Ltd, to motivate the workers.
The site foreman Mr Adu Agyapong expressed his sincere appreciation to Daasebre, the MP and their entourage for the support they have been receiving from them and promised to do a yeoman's job for the people of Berekum.
