Friends of Health association (FOHA) and the Assemblyman of Kyiritwede/Abontoma organised a health outreach for the people of the area on Sarturday 28 May 2011.
The outreach focused on hepatitis B and hypertension education, eye screening and consulting, breast cancer screening and distribution of de-wormers.
FOHA is a charitable organization founded by Jefferson Agbotro Kwasi and aimed at bringing Health Education to the door step of all Ghanaians and beyond who may need its assistance in accordance with the aims and vision of the association. They offer health education, Blood donation, refresher courses for Nurses and Doctors, Print health Education materials, support the vulnerable such as those with HIV/AIDs, Hepatitis B, and Organizes blood donations to support hospitals.
The purpose for this particular outreach was to curb ailment through preventive measures to help reduce mortality and increase productivity through healthy living.
Jefferson, founder of FOHA emphasised that, these outreaches go a long way in helping local folks understand basic health issues which improves their healthy living.
Hon. Joseph Baffour-Awuah, Assemblyman of Kyiritwede/Abontoma said people’s health is very important, since without good, effective work wouldn’t be possible. This was the motivation behind his collaboration with FOHA who has the expertise to educate the members of his electoral area.
Nana Okuffo Dartey II, Gyasehene of Berekum Traditional area, who was at function praised FOHA and the Assembly man for the wonderful initiative and asked them to organise such outreach often to help improve the health of the people.
Over 200 individuals benefited from the outreach according to the Assemblyman.
