The Ghana National Service Scheme (GNSS) is to deploy some 71,189 personnel to undertake national services duties across the country for the 2014/2015 service season.
The scheme is particularly targeting the strengthening of the educational sector, committing 36,825 personnel to shore up the quality of teaching and learning at all levels of education.
Alhaji Alhassan Imoro, Executive Director of the National Service Scheme who disclosed this during a press conference to release the postings for the 2014/2015 Service period, said personnel should check their postings by Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Registration begins on September 4.
He said that this year’s postings is focused on personnel providing essential services to government’s priority development areas such as agriculture, education, health, local governance, security and co-operatives.
Personnel will also be committed to areas of research, survey, physical planning, civil engineering, rural industries, environment, energy as well as fields that the scheme may deem pertinent.
Alhaji Imoro, encouraged all service persons to develop a positive outlook towards the deployment and not consider their posting to any area in the country as punishment but rather a call to serve Ghana.
He urged the district directors of the scheme to assist service persons deployed to their regions to settle down and integrate properly through the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and user agencies.
Out of the total number of deployment, 8,685 have been comiitesd to the health sector, 14,405 to the MMDA’s and 11,274 to the private sector.
The Greater Accra region has the largest take in regional postings, with some 22,824 personnel. 13,537 have been deployed to the Ashanti Region, with the Brong Ahafo Region being assigned 5,993 personnel.
The rest are Upper East – 2,264; Volta – 3,837; Northern – 5,256; Eastem-5,611; Western – 4,5.90; Upper West-2,662 and Central – 4,615.
