The Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Isaac Kwame Asiamah joined His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana to inspect progress of construction works of the multipurpose Youth and Sports complex at Dormaa Ahenkro on Tuesday 8th of October, 2019 as part of his the two-day tour of the Bono Region. President Nana Akufo-Addo was impressed at the rate of progress of work at the site.
Hon Asiamah said the project is part of an initiative aimed at providing sports infrastructure across the nation to ensure Ghana prepares more athletes with a double-edged mission of empowering the youth to win more medals for the country. “The president has a vision for the youth to provide a modern state-of-the-art sporting facility across the nation and that is what we are doing. Ghana over the years has not invested properly in sports infrastructure”, he emphasized.
As part of his tour, the president met with the Bono Regional House of Chiefs where the chiefs commended him for introducing the Free SHS Policy. He also assured the chiefs and the people of Bono that the Sunyani airport will start operations by the end of the year as rehabilitation works progress.
The Minister of Road and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Atta assured the people of the region that several roads have been awarded to contractors to be commenced soon, including Berekum-Drobo, Berekum-Nsawkaw, Sampa town roads, Dormaa Ahenkro town roads as well as Wenchi town roads.
Nurses at the Sunyani Nursing Training school also showed appreciation through messages on placards for restoring the nurse trainees’ allowance.
