Berekum Chelsea won’t be able to play their first Champions’ group match against Zamalak in Berekum.
The match is scheduled to be played at the Accra Sports stadium on Saturday, 7th of July 2012, due to some difficulties beyond the host team’s control.
An inspection team from CAF inspected the newly refurbished Berekum Golden city park on the 28 of June 2012. The team disqualify the stadium for the championship match, claiming the stadium do not have a dope-room, match commissioner’s office, coordinator’s office, location for OB van (though live matches have been shown at the stadium before) and internet facility.
In an exclusive interview with the CEO of Berekum Chelsea, Obed Nana Kwame Nketia, he said the stadium had since be provided with all the necessary facilities requested by the CAF inspectors including a scoreboard, but time is far spent and the inspectors wouldn’t be able to come back to certify the venue, thus their match against Egyptian side, Zamalak would be played in Accra on Saturday. He assured fans that all subsequent matches would be played in Berekum.
He asks for the prayers of all Berekum Chelsea fans to help them win their match against the five time winners of the champions’ league, come Saturday.
The match would be Telecast Live on GTV at 1400 GMT.
