Berekum Portrays a Speculator Display of Culture at Queen Mother’s Funeral, The Youth Hoping to See More at the Installation of a New One.

berekumHene1The funeral of the late queen mother of Berekum brought a beautiful spectacle of culture, especially to the young of Berekum, who have not seen anything of the kind in Berekum.

Indeed, it has been a long while since the citizenry saw their chief and his entourage ride in palanquins through the principal streets of Berekum.

The funeral had seen shops closed for business activities through the five-day ceremony of the final rites and paying off last respect to late Nana Akua Ameahene II, thus bringing all the focus on the various activities.

It was a beauty, seeing the Omanhene of Berekum ride in his palanquin with his entourage following with various cultural displays and exhibition of pure traditional rites with hailing and appellation from Berekumman.

Since the passing of Nana Boakye Yiadom II some 20 years ago, Berekumman have not really seen such cultural display exhibited through the principal streets with a lot of enthusiasm from the populace. This has mainly been because of the dispute about the legitimacy of Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II as the paramount chief of Berekum traditional area. It is worthy to note however that, the supreme court of Ghana affirmed him recently.

The next action after the funeral is the official installation ceremony of the next queen mother of Berekum, which the youth is keen to see how the ceremony will be carried out since such an activity has not been seen in a long while.

It's the fervent wish of the populace to see unity among the elders and kinsmen of Berekum to accelerate development in the traditional area, the once Golden city back to its glories.
