The queen mother of Kato in the Berekum Traditional area of the Bono Region, Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III decided to celebrate her 61st birthday by giving out to the five Senior High schools in Berekum East.
Nana is on a mission to inculcate reading habits in children and the youth through her organization, Ackomlip Foundation, with the move, read a book a week.
The organization donated over 1000 assorted books to the five Senior High Schools (SHS) at Berekum East, that is, Berekum Senior High School, Berekum PRESEC, All For Christ SHS, Methodist Technical SHS and Star Business SHS on 25th of July 2019, on behalf of Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III at a ceremony at Berekum Senior High School premises.
Nana reechoed that reading should be part of everybody's daily life and thus urged the students to read a book every week to expand their knowledge.
She advised the schools to help maintain the books to the benefits of the students. She then made a passionate appeal to benevolent organizations and individuals to support the foundation to help achieve the inculcation of reading into every child.
Mrs. Grace Ivy Ameyaw, the Berekum Municipal Director of Education, showed her profound appreciation to Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III and her organization for her kind gesture shown to the schools and commended her for the good works and encouraged her to continue her to pursue the vision. She promised her support to the organization and assured that her outfit will perform their supervisory role in making sure the student gets the best out of the books.
A Mentor of AKCOMLIP Ghana, Ms. Augustina Kyeraa emphasized the passion of the queen mother to see the success of people and for that matter young children and thus encourage the students to take advantage of the opportunities they have gotten to succeed.
The Headmaster of Berekum Methodist Technical and Senior High School, Mr. Enoch Mensah Febri on behalf of all the five Schools wished Nana Afia Siraa Ababio III a long life and prosperity on the special occasion of her birthday and also expressed their deep gratitude for the donation to their schools.
