Berekum Holy Family Hospital has commissioned a new eye clinic facility in the Berekum East Municipality of the Bono region on 24th February 2020.
Speaking to us, Dr Henry Akwasi Amankwaa, an eye specialist of Berekum Holy family Hospital told Berekumcity.com that every February has been chosen by Catholic Hospitals to remember patients on the sickbed. He explained that "We do this every year and this year the climax has coincided with the commissioning of this new eye clinic in Berekum”.
Donors from Scotland and Poland assisted the hospital to renovate an old building to meet the standard required of an eye clinic and furnished it with the necessary equipment such as Slip Lamp, Ophthalmoscope, Auto Refractor, Lens Meter among others.
Dr Amankwaa pointed out that the spacious office commissioned will help the hospital to take care of a higher number of patients who will come for eye care delivery.
The administrator of Berekum Holy Family Hospital, Rev Sister John thanked their counterparts and foreign donors for their contribution to healthcare delivery in Berekum.
She, however, appealed to other donors to assist in completing other buildings to support the continues delivery of quality healthcare.
The Catholic Bishop of Sunyani Diocese, Most Rev Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi who graced the occasion thanked the donors for their continuous support to the Catholic Hospitals in Ghana.
He expressed his appreciation and remarked that many patients will benefit from their benevolence and stressed, “the Berekum Holy family Hospital is happy with the kind of expensive equipment donated and I believe the equipment will indeed provide the care and delivery for eye patients as expected”.
