zongoroadThe Berekum Municipal Assembly has issued a Friday the 7th February, 2020 ultimatum to owners of temporal structures on the Zongo one-way to pave way for the construction of gutters for the rehabilitation of the road.

The Zongo one-way is benefiting from the Berekum-Seikwa road construction in which the contractors J.A Adom Limited have agreed to extend it and tarred it for the people of Berekum.

Works have begun on the road and in an inspection by the MCE, Hon Kofi Adjei with the Presiding Member, Hon Joseph Baffour Awuah and other officials from the assembly, the contractors lamented on the obstruction of works due to the sitting of some structures along the stretch. The assembly has thus issued a communique telling all occupants of temporal structures to remove them by Friday to aid the contractors to do their work.

The contractors are scheduled to tar the road before the close of this month, but the obstructions may delay the project if steps are not taken quickly. The assembly has however cautioned owners of the structures to heed to the ultimatum else the assembly will take steps to remove them.

In an interview with Hon Joseph Baffour Awuah, presiding Member of Berekum Municipal Assembly, he assured the people of Berekum that the assembly will do all that is possible to see this project among others earmark for construction this year to be done to bring back the lost glory of Berekum. He reiterated that the assembly will be monitoring all road projects to ensure high-quality standards are met.
