The Omanhene of Berekum Traditional Area, Nana Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo ll has suggested to the Berekumman Citizens Association, a group in Berekum who has planned to stage a demonstration against the leaders of Berekum for failing in the development agenda, thus stalling the progress of the town for close to two decades.
Nana asked the youth group, for the sake of Berekum peace, to organize a Berekumman Congress or Conference rather than a demonstration, which can undermine the peace of Berekum.
Berekumman Citizens Association paid a courtesy call on Daasebre where they expressed displeasure at the state of Berekum currently, thus plans to stage a demonstration through the principal streets of Berekum and petition the President through the Municipal Chief Executive on Wednesday June 6, 2018. Berekum town roads have been in a deplorable state for years, sanitation issues, security, and other challenges remain unresolved in a city well known as Golden City, the association lamented.
Berekum can boast of great leaders counting from the current Council of State, Berekum has 2 representatives, 2 NPP MP's and the B/A Regional Minister who also hail from Berekum, thus, the citizens cannot understand why Beekum have still not seen any development.
Nananom however, called on all Citizens of United to help Berekum progress.
