In a follow up to the concerns raised by the Twafour Hene of Berekum Traditional area and some petitioners from Jiinjini, concerning the MP of Berekum West intending to use his private house as the district office for the newly created Berekum West District Assembly; the NPP secretary for Berekum West constituency, Mr Franklin Osei Antwi has been responding.
Mr Osei Antwi pointed out in an interview with Berekumcity.com that, on the 4th of March, 2018, a meeting was held at the Berekum Municipal Assembly (of which he was present and took minutes of proceedings) which comprised the MP, Nananom, the Municipal coordinating Director and other dignitaries; the Honorable MP suggested that, due to the time constrain on the inauguration of the newly created assembly (Berekum West District Assembly), he's giving his private house out for free as an office whiles the Berekum Municipal assembly continues to look for a suitable place.
Interestingly, the suggestion saw no opposition at the meeting, only to hear concerns raised in the media later, Franklin lamented. However, after an inspection by the technocrats from the assembly of the house of Hon Kwaku Agyenim Boateng, the offer was turned down since in their recommendation, the space available wouldn't be enough to house the staff of the new assembly.
The team has thus identified a new location which is opposite the said MP's house which is owned by a private citizen for rental.
Master Franklin believes it is an orchestrated attempt to tarnish the hard won reputation of the MP.
