Nananom of Berekum Amankokwaa in the Bono region has expressed their profound gratitude to their son, the DCE of Berekum West District Assembly, Hon. Isaac Osei for fulfilling his promised made to them on the 22nd of July 2019 when he commissioned a borehole project in the community.
Nananom through the queen mother of Amakokwaa requested a public school in their immediate community since most wards from the community move relatively far distances to get access to a public school.
The Honourable DCE assured them that he will do all in his power to help start a school this academic year. The Assembly and the district education directorate has indeed secured a temporal building for the commencement of teaching and learning.
Nananom has however provided land and the assembly is working assiduously to start the construction of a permanent structure for the school. Hon Isaac Osei assured Nananom, he was a teacher and thus appreciate the importance of education and will do his best to develop a modern school for the people.
In a visit by Berekumcity.Com to the school, the headmaster, Mr Benjamin Korang said, the school has enrolled about 50 pupils for creche to primary six. “New pupils keep coming so we are hopeful the enrollment will increase soon”, he assured. The name of the school is Amankokwaa D/A Basic School.
Mr Korang is, however, appealing to cooperate bodies, individuals, NGOs to come to their aid to support efforts of Berekum West District Assembly to accelerate the development of the school. He finally pointed out that the school has all the requisite teachers it needs.
