On Thursday, 22nd December 2022, the Member of Parliament for Berekum East, Hon. Nelson Kyeremeh and Hon Opoku Boakye Yiadom (Agidas), former MCE, Commissioned a Community Health Planning and Services ( CHPS) compound and one motorcycle for the people of Oforikrom in the Berekum East Constituency.
Hon. Nelson thanked the former MCE during the NDC administration for his vision for the people of Oforikrom to have first aid health services in the community.
The MP noted that government is a continuum and so it is imperative to finish critical projects started by previous administrations and has the potential to a significant change in people's lives.
The project began in 2014, but the MP found out about it during his campaign in 2020, where he promised to complete it when voted into power.
Hon. Nelson Kwaku Kyeremeh emphasized his commitment to helping the people of Berekum get good health care delivery and indeed pointed out several projects such as a CT-scan, X-ray machine, Endoscopy machine and other health equipment for Berekum Holy family hospital, the building of the Mpatasie CHPS compound, Namasua CHPS compound, the ongoing construction of Kato health centre and many more.
He asked for support to make his administration succeed in the development of Berekum and promised to build another structure for postnatal care.
Hon Opoku Boakye Yiadom acknowledged the invitation given to him by the MP and thanked him for his commitment to finishing the project after eight years of commencement. He hinted that several initiated projects, including boreholes, needed to be completed and was hopeful the MP would do the honours. He thanked Hon. Nelson Kyeremeh for his contribution towards the development of Berekum.
The Berekum East Municipal Health Director, Dr Joseph Kwadjo Aleeba, received the facility and promised to put it to good use. Dr Aleeba further appealed to the community to cooperate with the staff.
The chief of Oforikrom who doubled as Mponuahene of Berekum, Osabarima Ofori Mensah, expresses his profound gratitude to Hon Nelson Kwaku Kyeremeh, Hon Opoku Boakye Yoadom and Berekum citizens Association for making his community see some development. Osabarima demonstrated his happiness and said he used his private car to transport women in labour and other emergency ailments to Berekum, but the CHPS compound will lessen their burdens.
Nana used the opportunity to thank the Berekumman Citizens Association for starting a six-unit Classroom for the people of Oforikrom to stop children from plying the dangerous highway to access school facilities in the Tain District.
